Amnesty for Banned UO Accounts - Start Playing Once Again!

If you haven't noticed, the recent UO newsletters contained the following paragraph near the button:

If you have an account that was terminated by CS over a year ago and would like to have it back please contact support (http://uo.com/support-welcome/) and give them the details and identify the account as yours, depending on the termination we will remove the restriction from your account so you may open it again.

It is not clear what they will forgive. But it is more likely you will be unbanned for relatively minor reasons such as harassment, being reported for saying prohibited words like "rape", speedhacking, etc. If you were banned for major exploitation or your account has a note "DO NOT UNBAN UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES EVER" then your chances would be less good.

But who knows, perhaps the notes were lost and they will unban you no matter how heinous your crimes against Britannia were!

If you are granted amnesty successfully please post a reply here so that other may hear the good news. If you know someone who was banned then let them know they could have another chance.

Good luck if it's old and you don't have all the same info anymore...

if you don't have every detail of the account, the customer support team struggles to find accounts. Buddy has been trying to get them to help him recover his original account(not banned) from 2002 for months. Gave them every detail they ask about, but he can't remember the exact account name so they "don't have records of it"

Does he not have access to the email address on the account anymore? Unless you have that it can be difficult. Unfortunately people who used emails tied to their ISP run into this a lot.

Why doesn't he use the forgot account name link then? It sends you a list of every account name associated with that email.

Okay I have a success story here.

I was banned back in 2000. My account was originally created in 1997. I was banned for saying a "bad word". (They also said at the time I had a prior misuse of some loophole in the system, I don't know what they were talking about.... There were never any loopholes back in the day....) Maybe some old school players from back in the day remember my character Sir Sid. Maybe you don't, or maybe none of you old timers are still around.

Any ways I randomly was checking on UO for the first time in a long time. I saw this thread and said what the hell might as well try and urban my account. I emailed them and they kept telling me they can't verify my account and can't find it (I didn't recall much data except my main character and some other random data.) After they told me five times via email they cannot verify me I kept giving them whatever data I could recall. I asked them if they can just ask me multiple choice questions like credit cards do! And to please just work with me because obviously no one has talked to them about this account for 16 years.

Finally they reactivated my account for me. It was kind of confusing to reactivated it after they said okay as there is an EA system and a mythic system and somehow I had to get into both and link the, etc etc. I finally ended up figuring it out and logged in for first time in sixteen years yesterday.

Looks much different... Even with the classic system.

And do you know what ! None of my friends refreshed my house over these sixteen years so I logged into no house!

And my main character was logged into jail when I logged in, and had to use the help option of I am physically stuck somewhere... A GM moved me out.

If anyone can give me a quick update of the game over the last 16 years that would be much appreciated.

Wish I could get all my t2a and ren era banned accounts... I probably got 6 banned ones that would have alot of valuables now

I'm pretty sure that they said my accounts were banned for life and not just from UO, but all of their games. I guess I'll ask and find out!

Spoiler alert... the notes were lost, because my crimes against Britannia and her citizens were heinous indeed. Honestly, I'd understand not being allowed back, but... Here I am!

What did they say?

In October 2005 I (and presumably all other e-mails associated with accounts in the HAX guild) got a nice e-mail from EA telling me that I was a "cheater and hacker" who was "part of an organized criminal network" and that I was banned for life from all EA products.

In April 2018 I got an e-mail from Broadsword Support telling me they were happy to help me recover my account.

And I did! I had made my peace with losing the account long ago, but suddenly 13 years later... So I excitedly log on to check myself out... maybe I have some illicit loot somewhere?! (No such luck!! I found a few 115 scrolls in one chars bank...) Well, at least I'd still have my chars and suits and weapons right? Yeah... I looked at Solor and what was top of the line in 2005 is total garbage by today's standards. I leave better stuff on monster corpses these days.
